Israel’s AgriTech Market Map: 400 Startups Putting The Tech in AgriTech

November 2018

In stark contrast to the pre-state days of swamp-draining using basic and manual read more tools, Israel now has more than 400 startups working on innovations for the global agriculture sector, including drought and water efficiency, crop productivity and waste management. This information comes from the new AgriTech market map produced by Start-Up Nation Central (SNC), an Israeli NGO that maps out the innovation ecosystem together with Greensoil Investments, a local AgriTech venture capital firm. The market map was created using SNC’s Start-Up Nation Finder tool and visualizes a representative selection of companies in each category.

    The first six months of 2018 show a maturing ecosystem, with a growing layer of startups raising more money at later stages from investors placing fewer and more prudent bets. H1 2018 saw $2.42B raised by Israeli high-tech companies in 260 funding rounds, making this one of the highest first half-years of capital raised since the beginning of 2015. Israeli Cybersecurity, Fintech, Digital Health and Industry 4.0 companies all raised more capital than the previous half-year.
